Collection of general information

Upon accessing our website, general information is automatically gathered, including server log files such as the type of web browser, operating system, and domain name of your internet service provider.

This information is purely technical and cannot be used to draw any conclusions about your identity. Its purpose is to ensure that web pages are delivered accurately and is essential for internet usage. We analyze this anonymous data in a statistical manner to improve our online presence and the underlying technology.

Handling personal information

“Personal data refers to any information that pertains to a person who is either identified or identifiable. The person in question is considered a ‘data subject’ when their personal data is being processed, regardless of the means or methods used. Processing covers all actions taken with personal data, such as storage, disclosure, acquisition, deletion, modification, destruction, and use.

We comply with Swiss data protection law when processing personal data.

We process personal data for as long as needed for the relevant purpose or purposes. If we have longer-term retention obligations under legal or other requirements, we limit processing accordingly.”

Cookies

Huxleycentre.ch utilizes cookies, which are tiny text files that permit the storage of specific user-related information on the user’s device while they browse the site. Cookies enable the analysis of page usage behavior, determination of the frequency and number of page users, and enhance the customer-friendliness of the website. These cookies persist beyond a browsing session and can be retrieved upon future visits. If you wish to prevent this, adjust your internet browser settings to reject cookies.

SSL encryption

For security purposes and to safeguard the transmission of sensitive information, such as requests sent to us as the website operator, we employ SSL/TLS encryption on this website. You can identify an encrypted connection by the browser’s address line starting with “https://” and the presence of a lock symbol in your browser.

Server log data

The operator of this website automatically receives and stores data, known as server log files, which are transmitted by your browser. This data includes your browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, host name of your computer, and the time of the server request. This information cannot be attributed to any specific individual and is not combined with any other data sources. We reserve the right to retrospectively examine this data if we receive indications of illicit use.

Booking and contact form

If you contact us via email, booking form or contact form, the information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing your request and any follow-up questions.

Newsletter

In order to subscribe to the newsletter provided on this website, we will need your email address and additional information to confirm ownership and agreement to receive the newsletter. No further data will be collected. We will only use this information to send the requested newsletter and will not share it with third parties.

You may withdraw your consent to store this data, including your email address and its use for sending the newsletter, at any time by using the “unsubscribe link” included in the newsletter.

Sending newsletter with "Mailchimp"

We use the mailing service provider ‘MailChimp’, a newsletter mailing platform provided by the US company Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA, to send our newsletters. You can review the privacy policy of the mailing service provider here. Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a MailChimp is certified under the Privacy Shield agreement, which guarantees compliance with European-level data protection (Privacy Shield). We use the shipping service provider based on our legitimate interests according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO and a data processing agreement according to Art. 28 para. 3 p. 1 DSGVO.

The mailing service provider may use the data of the recipients in pseudonymous form, without assigning it to a specific user, to optimize or improve its own services, such as technically optimizing the delivery and presentation of newsletters or for statistical purposes. However, the mailing service provider does not use the data of our newsletter recipients to contact them directly or to share the data with third parties.

Use of script libraries (incl. Google Webfonts)

To display our content correctly and visually appealing across browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries such as Google Webfonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. Google Webfonts are transferred to the cache of your browser to prevent multiple loading. If your browser does not support or blocks access to Google Webfonts, content will be displayed in a default font.

The call of script libraries or font libraries automatically establishes a connection to the operator of the library. It is theoretically possible – but currently unclear whether and for what purposes – that operators of such libraries collect data.

You can find the privacy policy of the library operator Google here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Facebook

We integrate plug-ins of the social network Facebook (address: 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA) on our websites.

If you visit one of our websites with a Facebook plug-in, a direct connection is established with Facebook. We cannot control the type and extent of the data that Facebook collects, stores, and processes. Our knowledge is limited, and we can only provide you with the information we have.

Through the plug-in, Facebook is notified that you have accessed the related page of our website, even if you are not a Facebook user. In this case, Facebook may store your IP address.

If you are a Facebook member and logged in, Facebook can link your visit to our website to your user account, and the plug-in will transmit all actions, such as clicking the Like button or leaving a comment.

To prevent Facebook from collecting data about you, we recommend logging out of your Facebook account before visiting our websites. Additionally, you can block the plug-ins using browser add-ons.

For information on Facebook’s data protection provisions, purpose and extent of data collection and processing, and privacy protection settings, please visit https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.

Instagram

The functionality of Instagram (Instagram Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA, 94025, USA) is integrated into our website. This allows users to share content, such as images, videos, or texts, and utilize buttons within our online offering to share content on Instagram. If users are registered members of the Instagram platform, Instagram can connect the usage of our content and features with their user profiles. Instagram’s privacy policy can be found at https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/.

Vimeo

This website incorporates plugins from the video hosting platform Vimeo, which is operated by Vimeo, LLC, located at 555 West 18th Street, New York, New York 10011, USA. Whenever you visit a page that contains one or more Vimeo videos, your browser establishes a direct connection to a Vimeo server in the USA, resulting in the storage of information about your visit and IP address. Your interactions with the Vimeo plugins, such as clicking the start button, also transmit this information to Vimeo for storage. For detailed information on Vimeo’s data collection and use, please refer to their privacy policy.

If you have a Vimeo account and do not wish for Vimeo to link data about you gathered from this website to your Vimeo account, you must log out of Vimeo before visiting this website.

Furthermore, Vimeo uses an iFrame to call the Google Analytics tracker when a video is played. This is Vimeo’s own tracking, which we have no control over. You can prevent Google Analytics from tracking your activity by using Google’s deactivation tools for some internet browsers. Additionally, you can prevent Google from collecting and processing data generated by Google Analytics, including your IP address, by downloading and installing the browser plugin found at the following link:
